Hi, I’m Bryan Petkau
And I provide counselling for people struggling anxiety, depression, and sexual addictions including pornography.
I help people find the path back to life they want to live. I provide a safe and confidential space where you can learn effective coping strategies, experience healing, and start living the life you desire.
Your loved ones may not know about your struggles or understand what you are trying to deal with
My first priority is to understand your experience and help move you toward healing. My office is a judgement-free room where you can express your authentic self including your desires, your dreams, your worries, and discuss things you are not comfortable sharing with others.
It’s possible to experience the healing and freedom you desire
As your counsellor, I help guide you through complex issues. Healing occurs through the experience of the counselling relationship in a supportive, non-judgmental, confidential environment. We will work together to develop tools to help you now, and uncover the areas in your life and in your story which may be causing you to feel trapped in your patterns.
My approach is client-centered, which means everything we do is based on what you want to accomplish in therapy - your goals are what count. I use empirically validated methods such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Narrative Theory within the Interpersonal Process that occurs in the counselling room.
My professional background
After experiencing the freedom in my life that counselling helped me achieve, I studied psychology for nine years with the goal of helping others experience this same healing and freedom.
I hold a Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology from Trinity Western University, the Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) designation from the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association, and the Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) designation from the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors.
In addition, I have engaged in further training in the area of sexual addiction through the American Association for Sexual Addiction Therapy.
